The McGhee
Center is pleased to announce its
Fall 2010 semester abroad program in Turkey.
A unique feature of the McGhee
Center’s academic program is its
emphasis on field study and travel to many diverse parts of Turkey.
The McGhee Center curriculum promotes active
learning through excursions, travel, community service, and the
opportunity to interact with political, cultural, and business leaders
and local families. The focus on interactive learning is reinforced
by a low student-faculty ratio and by a culture of communal meals where students
are encouraged to interact with faculty, guests, and one another as they
are introduced to Turkish and Mediterranean food culture.
The
program includes a two-week Orientation in Istanbul
and Ankara, with additional excursions to Edirne, Bursa, Konya, Antalya,
and other sites of cultural and historical importance. A ten-day
mid-semester excursion to Syria
and/or southeastern Turkey
provides a comparative perspective on the region.
