Images of the Villa that switch with each day
Not merely an idyllic setting for study abroad programs and academic tours, the Villa Le Balze maintains an active scholarly agenda, actualized by its status as Georgetown's Center for the Study of Italian History and Culture.

Following the spirit of art and inquiry of the former owner of the Villa, Charles S. Strong, the Center promotes research into Italian civilization from the Middle Ages to the present and gives a more formal profile to the academic initiatives already organized at the Villa.

The Center for the Study of Italian History and Culture has organized both conferences and smaller symposia at the Villa which have often led to important publications.

The Center also publishes an annual Journal of Italian History and Culture. The Journal, which has been recognized for excellence by the Italian Ministry of Culture, includes articles on the art, history, and literature of Italy, as well as on contemporary Italian culture, politics and society.
