The System in Practice

This area of our site is designed to supplement and clarify the official policy found in The Honor System booklet.  It should prove useful for a wide audience seeking to better understand the workings of the Honor System at Georgetown.

Area Sections:

  • Case Flow Chart: A pictorial synopsis of the evolution of an Honor Council case, from accusation to resolution.  (This file requires free Adobe Reader software.)
  • What to Expect at a Hearing: A lengthy, informal description of the hearing process.
  • Sanctioning Guidelines: The guidelines used to decide which sanction a student should receive after being found "in violation."  Includes an in-depth description of each sanction and a helpful glossary.
  • Expedited Sanctioning: In certain situations a student accused of an Honor System violation can choose to accept a recommended sanction instead of going to a hearing.  This page describes this process.
