Georgetown University Registrar | Diplomas Diplomas Diploma Replacement Form

Undergraduate and graduate students may request duplicate copies (or replacements in case of damage or loss) of their diplomas from the University Registrar. Replacement diplomas can be ordered by the graduate only. Immediate family members or spouses may request a replacement diploma under special circumstances, and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. As these are technically identical to the original diploma, please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

We do not require original diplomas to be returned to us, but we ask that you destroy what remains of the original diploma and replace it completely with the new one. If you have at least the signature lines and Georgetown seal portion of your original diploma, you may send that back to us for a new copy without the 'Exemplum' printed on it. If you send us your original diploma or at least the signature lines and Georgetown seal, we will not add 'Exemplum' to the replacement. All signatures, dating back to 1980, are on file electronically with our printing company. For diplomas before 1980, we have select signatures depending on the signatory's length of time served here. All other signatures will be replaced with current signatures.

If your name has changed since you graduated, your diploma will still read your name as of when you graduated from Georgetown.  If you would like your diploma to reflect a name change, you must submit an official name change. Once your name is changed, you may order a replacement diploma.

All orders are shipped via regular USPS mail but may be shipped overseas. Domestic orders can be tracked through USPS, but international orders cannot. We recommend that any international orders be shipped via FedEx. To request a FedEx delivery, for international deliveries only, please include a FedEx account number or credit card number for billing on the request form.
