1. What is the online note and electronic evaluation link I may put in my syllabus to direct students to the CoursEval survey?
Please note that your course and instructor will be evaluated online. Your feedback is important to us. You will receive an email message from the Office of the University Registrar with the site information and login instructions.

2. Are students who have dropped a course still invited to complete an electronic evaluation?
Only active and current students in a course may complete a survey for the course. The import of student data into CoursEval happens after the last day a student may withdraw from a course.
3. Are student responses anonymous?
Instructors, departments, and deans see feedback in aggregated form. The data is collected by question and are not attributed to the student.
4. May an instructor add optional questions to their evaluation survey?
Yes. Instructors may log into CoursEval and choose from a bank of optional questions to add to their survey when access has been granted by the administrator. Instructors may add optional questions until the first survey submission by a student.
5. May students receive their grades before completing the electronic evaluation survey?
No. The electronic survey will close before grades are due for the semester.
6. When may I see the results of the electronic evaluation survey?
Instructors will be able to see their evaluation reports 48 hours after all grades for the semester are posted.
7. What is the procedure for team-taught courses?
All instructors must be evaluated with the same instrument and only the primary instructor will be able to make selections on the Faculty Evaluation Request Form.
Students will be provided with independent evaluations for each instructor.
8. Are all courses evaluated?
No. We do not evaluate courses with only one student enrolled, internships, labs, recitations, or Teaching Assistants.
An Instructor may also complete the Request for Evaluation form and choose the “No Evaluation” option.
9. Can I administer the electronic evaluation in class, synchronously?
Yes. We offer a synchronous administration option for the electronic evaluations. An instructor may select the day and time they would like to have the survey active for their students, in class. The survey will be activated before class and deactivated when the period ends.

1. Why is it important for me to fill out the Evaluation survey?
Evaluations provide important information for many purposes. Evaluations help faculty
assess strengths and identify areas for improvement in their teaching. Information from
students is used by faculty committees to make informed decisions about promotion and
tenure.
2. Where do I go to complete the electronic evaluation survey?
You can go directly to: https://eval.georgetown.edu. Click on “CoursEval” in the “Main
Campus” box and log in with your NetID and password.
You can go to the University Registrar’s website and click on “Electronic Faculty Evaluation”.
Log in with your NetID and password.
3. Are Electronic Evaluation notifications sent to me?
Yes, students receive email notifications and electronic evaluation information about
CoursEval through their Georgetown University email. These emails are sent from The Office
of the University Registrar. It is very important that students regularly check their GU email
account because we do not email any accounts other than your GU accounts. If you choose
not to use your GU email account, please utilize the forwarding email option for your
account.
4. Is this survey confidential?
Yes. Student names are used in the delivery of the survey and emails to ensure that
each student receives a survey for each course they are enrolled in and to allow for
them to save and continue the survey at a later time. Once responses are submitted,
they are collected and reported in a pool. Individual identifiers are not part of the data
collection and reporting process.
5. Is my feedback anonymous?
Instructors, departments, and deans see feedback in aggregated form. The data is
collected by question and are not attributed to the student.
6. Can an instructor see my feedback before grades are submitted?
Feedback is only seen by the instructor, department, and deans after the grades for the
course have been posted.
7. When are evaluations available to me to complete?
Each administration of evaluations will occur between the last week of your course and
the end of final exams.
Each instructor has the option of choosing to be evaluated by paper or electronic survey.
If they choose paper, they will be given the forms through their departments and can
administer the survey when they choose.
If they choose electronic survey, they will then need to choose asynchronous administration
of the survey (open for the last week of classes and the study days and students can complete
it when and where they choose) or synchronous administration (instructors choose a specific
day and time in class during the last week of classes to administer the electronic survey to all
their students at the same time.)
If they choose synchronous administration, any student who does not complete the survey
during the designated time will not have the opportunity to do so otherwise.
8. What happens if I start and cannot finish the survey?
At the end of each section of the survey there is a “Save Progress” button. Using this
will allow students to come back to the survey at a later time.
9. Are all courses evaluated?
No. We do not evaluate courses with only one student. Doing so would not allow for the
anonymity of the source of the data for the courses. Instructors can also choose whether or not
they want to be evaluated.
10. Can I still evaluate a course if the instructor chooses not to be evaluated?
Yes. You can write or type a letter regarding the instructor and/or course and deliver it in a
sealed envelope to the department of the course. Please address it to the department chair.
11. Do students get to see the results of the evaluations?
Yes. The results of the evaluations for the previous three semesters are posted on the
University Registrar’s website.
