Georgetown University Registrar | Student Records Data Mart Access Student Records Data Mart Access

Much of the commonly used student academic data at Georgetown is captured in the Student Records Data Mart for reporting. In instances where it is deemed necessary for performing regular job functions, individuals at the university authorized to access student data may be granted access to the Data Mart.

This access comes in two forms: Registrar's Web Reports and Cognos Impromptu 7. Since Cognos Impromptu requires significant experience in SQL report writing, the majority of users are best served with the Web Reports. In order to request either level access, please complete three copies (one per Registrar's Office) of the Student Records Data Mart Request Form and Confidentiality Statement and fax it to the following individuals:

Access will not be granted until approved request forms are received by Ihor Jarema from the three above Registrars. At the same time that users submit the request form they should also open a help desk ticket to request installation of Cognos Impromptu 7. As part of that request the user should supply the help desk with their IP address and their MAC address. Once UIS has received the necessary approvals and configuration information, UIS will arrange for the following:

  • A security audit of the users desktop,
  • Configuration of a static IP address,
  • Configuration of the data warehouse firewall for the client,
  • Installation of Cognos Impromptu 7.

After the client has been installed, Ihor will inform the user that they are ready to begin using the data warehouse. Andrew Pingrey in the Office of the University Registrar will periodically hold limited group trainings on use of the data, security protocols, and delivered reports. To attend the next training, please contact him.

If you have questions, please contact Andrew Pingrey.
