Course Descriptions & Syllabi Explore

As the steward of academic records, the University Registrar is responsible for collecting, distributing, and archiving course descriptions and syllabi. To facilitate this process, the University Registrar has partnered with ExploreGeorgetown to make this information available online.

Course Descriptions
Course descriptions (Fall 2004-present) are available for viewing throughout the year in the course catalog and through the schedule of classes. It is the responsibility of academic departments to update their respective courses every semester before registration periods. Typically, department chairs and program coordinators are given this responsibility.

For courses offered prior to Fall 2004, please contact the Registrar's Office and the descriptions can be photocopied from the original bulletins.

Access to administer course descriptions is provided on two levels: owners may edit descriptions and reviewers may approve descriptions for public viewing. While staff may be given both owner and reviewer roles, the default access level is owner. If you feel that you should be given owner/reviewer access to course descriptions, please contact Aaron Swartz. If you wish to include course descriptions on your departmental website, please contact the University Webmaster for assistance.

Syllabi
Syllabi (Spring 2000-present) are available for viewing throughout the year as part of the schedule of classes. It is the responsibility of faculty to add syllabi to Explore and documents will become part of their faculty profile. Faculty may delegate faculty profile access on an individual basis. If you feel that you should be given access to update faculty profiles and syllabi, please contact the University Webmaster. If the faculty member is unable to add syllabi, please contact Aaron Swartz.
