Georgetown University Registrar | Tuition, Fees, and Refunds Tuition, Fees, and Refunds

The Office of Student Accounts is responsible for reporting and collecting Georgetown University tuition and fees at the direction of the University Registrar. Accordingly, the University Registrar maintains the refund schedule.

Refund period dates and percentages below are based on GU’s AY2012 Academic Calendar, and GU institutional policy for tuition refunds which is published online in GU’s Undergraduate Bulletin and Graduate Bulletin.

Fall 2011
1st - 2nd Weeks 100% Refund Aug. 31 - Sept. 13
3rd - 4th Weeks 80% Refund Sept. 14 - Sept. 27
5th - 6th Weeks 70% Refund Sept. 28 - Oct. 11
7th - 8th Weeks 50% Refund Oct. 12 - Oct. 25
9th Week 40% Refund Oct. 26 - Nov. 1
Tuition will not be refunded for withdrawals after November 1. 

Spring 2012
1st - 2nd Weeks 100% Refund Jan. 11 - Jan. 24
3rd - 4th Weeks 80% Refund Jan. 25 - Feb. 7
5th - 6th Weeks 70% Refund Feb. 8 - Feb. 21
7th - 8th Weeks 50% Refund Feb. 22 - Mar. 6
9th Week 40% Refund Mar. 7 - Mar. 13
Tuition will not be refunded for withdrawals after March 13.

Should a student voluntarily withdraw from courses, credit for tuition will be calculated from the date the Office of the Dean is notified according to the percentages above.

Non-Standard Refund Periods: MBA Module Courses, and ENFL courses, each have non-standard semester dates and non-standard refund periods. Please consult with your department to determine the refund period.

Course Lab or Material Fees: Individual course Lab or Materials Fees may be charged for enrollment in a particular course. Course fees are published with individual course listings in GU’s online Schedule of Classes. A course lab or materials fee automatically will be removed from the student’s account if the student officially drops the course during the semester’s Add/Drop Period.

Course Lab or Material Fees are not refunded for courses from which the student Withdraws after the semester’s Registration Add/Drop Period has ended.

Yates Fee: The Yates Field House Fee is a mandatory University fee charged to
full-time, enrolled students and cannot be waived nor removed from the accounts of
full-time enrolled students.
