Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs

bullet Targeted Technical Assistance

A key objective of the CYSHCN project of the NCCC is to provide training, technical assistance and consultation to state MCH and CSHCN Directors and programs serving children and youth with special health care needs and their families at the national, regional, state and local levels. To date, the NCCC is providing targeted technical assistance to four State Title V/CSHCN programs and two family organizations supporting children and youth with special health care needs. Recipients of the targeted technical assistance were chosen in collaboration with the NCCC's Federal Project Officer, Diana Denboba, Public Health Analyst, MCHB, DSCSHCN. Sites were selected because of their expressed interest, geographic locale, current and emergent demographic trends and approach to administering the CSHCN program within their states.

Goals and the nature of the technical assistance are developed collaboratively between key stakeholders and NCCC faculty. The technical assistance can focus on a range of areas including: strategic planning and goal-setting, identification and provision of resources, review of policies, structures, procedures, materials review processes, and training on a variety of topics. Technical assistance can be provided through a variety of means that may include but is not limited to on-site consultation, videoconferencing, teleconferencing, e-mail, web casts, etc.
