Other Infant Death (SIDS/ID) Project

Maternal and Child Health Bureau National SIDS/ID Centers

The federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau funds four Centers to address the issues of SIDS and other infant death. The National Center for Cultural Competence works in close collaboration with the other three Centers.

The National SIDS & Infant Death Project IMPACT supports state and local infant death programs through sharing information, promoting policy and legislative changes, building upon resources, and fostering partnerships and communication. Project IMPACt hosts a  lively and informative listserv for the SIDS/ID constituency.
The First Candle/SIDS Alliance Program Support Center provides programs and services for professionals working in the Health and Human Service arena.  The Program Support Center provides guidance and materials for educational efforts on reducing the risk of infant death as well as providing compassionate grief support to those affected by an infant death. The National SIDS/Infant Death Resource Center (NSIDRC) provides information services and technical assistance on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and related topics. Their goal is to promote understanding of SIDS and provide comfort to those affected by SIDS through information sharing. Products include fact sheets and journal updates on topics related to SIDS/ID.
