The
Research and Evidence
The
NCCC provides national leadership and contributes to the body
of knowledge on cultural and linguistic competence within
systems and organizations. The NCCC places emphasis on translating
evidence into policy and practice for programs and personnel
concerned with health and mental health care delivery, administration,
education and advocacy.
The NCCC supports this goal by:
- Identifying research studies, technical
reports, and sources of collected data (such as the Census
and other surveys) that are part of the evidence-base. These
are now catalogued in the online Resource
Database as type “evidence-base.”
If there are materials that you would like to add to the
database, please contact
us.
- Writing articles and reports that contribute
to the knowledge-base.
- Collaborating with partners to contribute
to the evidence base.
Resources for Research and Evidence
Promising Practices
Research
has not kept pace the current and emergent practices that
exemplify cultural and linguistic competence in many health
care and mental health programs. Personnel within these programs
are busy doing the work, which often provides little
time for publishing and disseminating their remarkable work
in the juried literature. However, there are promising
and/or evidence-based practices that are commensurate
with the conceptual frameworks and definitions of cultural
and linguistic competence embraced by the NCCC.
