GenETHX Search Tips
About This Database
The Ethics & Human
Genetics Database is comprised of a subset records focusing on genetics (NRC
classification scheme 15.+) or cloning (14.5) from the monographic and journal
bibliographic databases at the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature
(NRC).

Click on Browse Bioethics
Thesaurus for Genetics and enter the keyword into the query box.
More than one term can be entered in the box at a time and the retrieval
will contain cites with either of the terms. To find a term that
is either a major (*) term or general term, use the truncation symbol
(+) before the word.

in the query box. Since all citations in the test file are related
to genetics or cloning, you can simply search for a non-genetics classification
number to get everything in the database on a selected topic, e.g.
search 9.4 to see literature on genetics and resource allocation,
or 9.3.2 for genetics and managed care. |

General Searching
Tips
To modify a search, click
on your browser's Back button.
To clear the query boxes,
click on the Reset button on the query screen.
To return to the search
screen from within a retrieval display, click on the magnifying glass icon
.
Saving Retrieval
Results:
You can check the citations
you wish to save within each display page and save them to your local computer
by clicking on the "Save Checked" box. To save all citations within
the display page, click on the "Save All" box. NOTE: Citations
must be saved before going to the next page of results. For large retrieval
results, set the display to the maximum number of cites (200). Retrieval results
larger than 200 can be saved/printed 200 citations at a time.
To Print results, use your
browser's Print function.
