Parking

A limited number of visitor parking spaces are available on an hourly or daily basis at the Leavey Center P-1 or Lot A. These spaces are managed separately by the Georgetown University Hospital and can be reached by entering campus from Reservoir Road Entrance 1.

A limited number of daily parking spaces are available in the Southwest Garage for a flat rate of $12/day and can be reached by entering campus from Canal Road or Prospect Street.

Street parking around campus is severely limited and strictly enforced. Most streets require a Zone 2 residential permit issued by the District of Columbia for parking for longer than two hours. A limited number of metered spaces are available on Reservoir Road, 37th Street, and Prospect Street.

Use of public transportation to reach campus is highly recommended.

Taking Metrorail:

We are approximately 1 mile from the Rosslyn metro station, across the Key Bridge. The GUTS bus (Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle) leaves the Rosslyn metro station (orange and blue lines) and Dupont Circle metro station (red line) regularly and is free to students, faculty, staff of Georgetown University. Visitors to the university will be asked to pay $1.00 to ride.

Taking the Metrobus:

The G2 bus line stops at the main university gate at 37th and O Streets, N.W. You may transfer to the westbound G2 bus from the Metro Red Line at Dupont Circle. The bus stops on the north side of P Street at 20th, just west of the Circle. The westbound buses say "Georgetown University"; the eastbound,"Howard University."

Off-campus Storage Information

Unfortunately, the stacks in Healy 102 cannot accommodate further growth of the 28,000-volume collection. Although the NRCBL staff has tried to retain all core materials relevant to bioethics in Healy 102, some materials have been removed to other on-campus locations, and others, to an off-campus storage facility.

Materials stored elsewhere on campus may not be immediately available, particularly during evening and weekend hours. These items include the archival materials collection, many pre-1988 reprints, some pre-1988 journals, all books published prior to 1960, all audiovisual materials, and the non-bioethics part of the Kampelman Collection, which is located in a designated room on the fourth floor.

Items selected for remote storage (requiring one to two business days, i.e., Monday through Friday, for retrieval) include:

  • books from related disciplines that lack a major emphasis on bioethics (such as philosophy, professional ethics outside the health professions, religion, science, social sciences, and technology)
  • books published before 1980
  • duplicate copies or variant editions of titles remaining on campus
Remember that we can retrieve materials from storage at your request. If a title you use frequently has been stored, it will be returned to the Library shelves.
